Key vocabulary

• complementary angles: two angles whose measures add to 90°
• supplementary angles: two angles whose measures add to 180°
• vertical angles: the angles across from each other where two lines cross; they are equal
• parallel lines: lines in the same plane that never meet
• transversal: a line that crosses two or more other lines
• corresponding angles: angles in the same position at each crossing; equal when the lines are parallel
• alternate interior angles: angles between the parallel lines, on opposite sides of the transversal; equal
• co-interior (same-side interior) angles: angles between the parallel lines, on the same side of the transversal; they add to 180°

Tips for using the game

Students solve angle relationships to break through a vault's security system, one relationship per sector.

• The math: complementary angles (sum 90°), supplementary angles (sum 180°), and vertical angles (equal) from crossing lines.
• Parallel lines and a transversal: corresponding and alternate angles are equal, and co-interior (same-side interior) angles add to 180°. Each puzzle names its relationship.
• A solved angle becomes a hazard: the wedge a student calculates turns into a camera cone in a maze that they then have to sneak around.
• Real life: camera and floodlight coverage, road intersections, and the crossing beams of bridges and ladders all depend on these angle relationships.
• Targeted practice: Practice mode lets students choose any mix of the four relationships with no timer, and a wrong answer in the campaign gets a second try with the clock paused.
