A basketball shooting game where you solve exponent rules to score. Play solo against a computer defender, or head-to-head with a friend. Controls: WASD or arrow keys to move, space or enter to shoot or answer questions, mouse to click menu buttons.
Teaching Notes for Educators
Students apply the exponent rules to variable bases (x, y, a, b) to score, which bridges number exponents and algebraic expressions.
The math: multiplying powers with the same base adds exponents, dividing subtracts them, a power raised to a power multiplies them, and any base to the zero power is 1.
Choose your challenge: a 2-point shot asks a positive-exponent question, and stepping back for a 3-pointer brings in harder mixed questions with negative exponents.
The rule is named every time: after each shot the full equation appears with the rule used, such as "Add exponents," so students learn why an answer works.
Real life: the same rules simplify formulas in algebra, physics, and computer science, and they are the foundation for polynomials and scientific notation later on.
Play styles: solo against a defender for quiet practice, or head-to-head with a friend for a review-day competition.
