A warm-up for the start of class, before students play or start the worksheet. It reviews angle measure and adding angles from grade 4 using things students see every day, then asks them to think ahead to the game. Two tickets print on each page; cut along the dashed line. The answer key prints on its own page after it.

3. A right angle is split into two parts. One part is 30°. Find the other.
? = °
4. Think ahead: a mini golf ball hits a wall at 40° from the wall. At what angle do you think it bounces away? Why?

Answer Key: Entry Ticket

Angles Everywhere
  1. 90° (a quarter of a full turn: a right angle)
  2. 360 ÷ 8 = 45°
  3. 90 − 30 = 60°
  4. Any reasoning counts. In the game (and on a real table) the ball leaves at the same angle, 40°, on the other side. Together with the angle between the two paths, the angles along the wall make 180°.

Quick read: students who answer 150° on #3 subtracted from 180; that's exactly the complementary-versus-supplementary mix-up today's lesson fixes. Use #4 to open the lesson, then let students test their guess in Bank Shot.
